Firth Civil Drafting

Remote Civil 3D Drafting Support

Firth Civil Drafting

Production drafting support that helps civil engineering and surveying firms add capacity — and deliver projects faster.

An extension of your team

Firth Civil Drafting doesn't replace your engineers, surveyors, or PMs. It absorbs the production drafting that quietly eats engineering time — so your firm delivers faster, without adding permanent payroll.

Capabilities

Production drafting, where civil teams feel the bottleneck.

Focused Civil 3D support across the four kinds of work that consume the most engineering time during busy periods.

01

Plan Production

Full production drafting for the sheets your projects live and die by — set up, organized, and plotted to match your office.

  • Site plan drafting
  • Utility plan drafting
  • Grading & drainage plans
  • Erosion control plans
  • Detail sheets
  • Sheet setup & organization

02

Civil 3D Drafting Support

The technical CAD work inside the model — labels, surfaces, viewports, and standards handled so your sheets read clean.

  • Labeling & annotation
  • Surface display setup
  • Viewport creation & management
  • Layer & xref management
  • Standards implementation
  • Plan revisions & redlines

03

Survey & Existing Conditions

Clean base files and existing-conditions drafting that give every downstream sheet an accurate place to start.

  • Existing conditions plans
  • Base file organization
  • Survey drafting support
  • Existing utility drafting
  • Topographic plan drafting
  • Plan presentation improvements

04

Redline Drafting

One of the highest-value services: engineers make the decisions, and the marked-up changes are drafted in accurately and fast.

  • Engineering redline incorporation
  • Review-comment turnaround
  • Deadline-driven revisions
  • Clean, reviewable markups
  • Consistent revision tracking
  • Submittal-cycle support

Why firms use us

When demand outruns drafting capacity, there are three choices.

Most firms hit a point where project demand exceeds the hours available to draft. Two of the options cost you. The third doesn't expand your payroll.

Option A

Delay the schedule

Push deadlines and absorb the project-timeline risk that comes with it.

Option B

Have engineers draft

Spend valuable, billable engineering time on production drafting and lose efficiency.

Option C

Add drafting capacity

Bring in flexible production support — without expanding permanent staff.

That's where we come in

Flexible capacity

Scale production up or down with actual workload — no recruiting, hiring, training, or long-term payroll.

Familiar workflows

Work happens inside your layer standards, title blocks, plot styles, and sheet organization — not a new system.

Civil engineering focus

Not a general drafting service. Centered on Civil 3D, civil plan production, and land-development deliverables.

Responsive support

Built for deadline pushes, permitting sprints, and submittal cycles — extra hands exactly when you need them.

How it works

It starts with a conversation, not a file transfer.

We meet first to make sure we're a fit, then integrate into your existing process. You stay in control of design decisions, approvals, and final delivery the whole way through.

  1. 01

    Introductory meeting

We start with a conversation to understand your firm, your standards, and the kind of support you need — and to make sure we're the right fit before any files change hands.

    • Understand your workflow
    • Review standards & needs
    • Confirm it's a fit
  2. 02

    Project assignment

Once we're aligned, you share project files, redlines, drafting standards, and scope for the work ahead.

    • Project files & redlines
    • Drafting standards
    • Scope of work
  3. 03

    Drafting production

Work is completed inside your standards and workflows — the goal is deliverables that look like your own CAD department produced them.

    • Your styles & layers
    • Clean, readable sheets
    • Consistent output
  4. 04

    Delivery

Completed files are returned for review. Your engineers keep full control of design decisions, approvals, and final delivery.

    • Organized CAD files
    • Ready for internal QA
    • You stay in control

Founder

Hi, I'm Owen Firth.

I'm a civil engineering student at the University of Utah and the founder of Firth Civil Drafting. I started it to give civil and surveying firms dependable drafting support, and I'm building a small, carefully-trained team around that same standard of work.

Studying civil engineering means the work isn't just linework. We understand the plans behind it — the standards, the intent, and why a clean, reviewable sheet matters to the engineer signing it.

I grew up in Wyoming and work out of Utah, and most of my free time is spent in the mountains. That same care for getting the details right outdoors is the care that goes into every file we send back.

Clear boundaries

A drafting resource — not an engineering firm.

Engineering judgment, design decisions, and final approval stay entirely with your licensed professionals. That clarity is exactly what makes the support safe to lean on.
